Most brides want long shiny hair for their wedding day. Now, whether you can achieve that naturally or with extensions is totally up to you.
I love my long hair, but its been a process. It’s one thing to have long hair. It’s another to have long, healthy, shiny hair. The latter can be difficult, but I think I’ve found a great routine for me. FYI, my hair is on the fine side of the texture spectrum with a little bit of natural wave.
Shampoo and Conditioner
I wash my hair 3 to 4 times per week. I alternate between a purple shampoo and a hydrating shampoo. I need the purple shampoo and conditioner to rid my blonde hair of any brassiness. My color always looks fresh after I use it. However, you shouldn’t use it all the time. That’s why I alternate with a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Joico is one of my all time favorite brands. I also like Matrix Biolage, Aquage, and Kenra.
Deep Conditioner
I use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. I feel like this really helps to keep my hair soft and healthy. I can absolutely notice a difference if I skip this step.
Hair Oil
A little of this stuff goes a long way. I start with about a dime size of hair oil and apply it to towel dried hair, avoiding my roots. My roots tend to look oily quickly, so I don’t need any help in that department.
Wet Brush
My mom bought me my first wet brush years ago and it is the only brush I will use. It never ever snags or breaks my hair. It detangles like a dream. Best brush ever.
Heat Styling Spray
I do not use heat on a daily basis. I usually only blow dry my hair when I’m in a hurry. If I am using heat styling tools, I always always always use a heat styling spray. I like to use one that goes up to a high temperature and has a little bit of hold. Loose beach curls are my go to style.
Shine Spray
The final step in my haircare routine is shine spray. It makes my hair look polished. I like to use Kenra because it is weightless, contains frizz control, and protects against UV Rays. Yay.
