Beauty Bites: Cruciferous Veggies

On The Chew, I heard Daphne Oz refer to cruciferous veggies as “colon’s little broom” which I find hilarious. I’ve called them that ever since. Does anyone else really really miss Daphne on The Chew? Come back Daph! 

Anyhow, members of the cruciferous vegetable family include broccoli, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. (just to name a few!) Not only are they filled with a cancer fighting  phytochemical called sulforaphane, they pack a fiber filled punch, and are loaded with vitamins. Along with being colon’s little broom, cruciferous veggies also lower inflammation in the body.

So they are good for your body as a whole, but how does that relate to skincare? The Sulphur-containing compounds help to detoxify and clarify problematic skin. Think about the times you’ve seen Sulphur face masks or spot treatments for acne. (cough, cough PTR)

The antioxidants help to give you that lit from within glow everyone and their mama strives to achieve. It’s like an all natural highlight with a cheap price tag.

Glowing, hydrated, acne-free complexions all around. Bring on the cruciferous veggies!
